What is IVF & Why and When it is Used?
In vitro fertilization (IVF) is the most common and most effective type of assisted reproductive technology (ART) to help women become pregnant.
This activity involves fertilization of egg outside the women body, in a laboratory, and then positioned it in a woman’s uterus.
In a normal pregnancy a male sperm penetrates the woman’s egg and fertilizes it inside her body after ovulation. The fertilized egg (then called as embryo) then gets attracted itself to the wall of the uterus (womb) and starts developing into a baby. This is known as conception.
But, some women are not able to become pregnant by natural way of conception and hence have to undergo fertility treatment to conceive.
